Tips & Practicalities

We are happy to welcome you! Our team has already been living in Bali for years and some of us were born and raised here. Here is a list of insider tips that will make your time in Bali easier, more fun and cheaper:

GETTING THERE:

From the airport, you can just walk to the taxi point, there are always taxis available. The price to the Juli Villas is normally between 300.000 IDR and 500.000 IDR. There is also a Grab Taxi point at the taxi point. They can order a taxi for you over there, which is normally cheaper (150.000 IDR – 350.000 IDR). This is the address for drop of: Jl. Raya Tiyingtutul No.16, Pererenan, Kec. Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351

You can arrange it yourself. If you give your flight number and arrival time they will be waiting for you. Expect to pay around 350.000 – 450.000 IDR. You can also contact these drivers for other trips in Bali.

Check-in
You can check in by yourself anytime you want after 15:00. You receive a code two days before your booking with a door code. With this you can open the door without a key at any moment. Sometimes it is possible to do an earlier check in or leave your luggage earlier at the house. Contact us up-front if you want to do that, we will check if it’s possible.

Check-out

Checkout time is at 11:00. Please don’t forget your stuff. You do not have to do a full cleaning, our team will do that. But it’s appreciated if you leave the house in a decent manner. For the rest just leave when you want. Sometimes a later check-out is possible, or leaving your luggage for a while is also possible sometimes. Contact us on time when you prefer to do this, we will check if it’s possible.

Early check-in
Depending on the bookings and the time of departure of the previous guests we can do an early check in. You can always drop your bags from 12:30 onwards and we will have the villa ready at 15:00. If the previous guests have left earlier and we have cleaned the villa earlier then 15:00, we will inform you on the day itself.

Laundry:
Included in the villa is the laundry for towels and bed linen. There is no laundry service included in the villa for your own clothes etc. In the main street there are several laundries. They can all offer washing, drying and iron at very reasonable rates. At the opposite of the scooter entrance  of the villas(Jl Raya Tiyingtutul No 16, Pererenan), there is a local laundry.

Scooter / motor rental:
In the area there are several rental places. These two are at walking distance:

You can also contact them via Whatsapp so they can bring the bike to the villa. Expect to pay around 150.000 IDR per day per scooter (PCX, NMAX). Or a smaller type is around 100.000 IDR per day (Vario, Scoopy).

Late check-out
Depending on the bookings and arrival times of the other guests, we can organize a late check-out. We can let you know on the day of checking out if it’s possible.

Viewings:
Our team is happy to show you our beautiful villas! We can only do viewings when there is a check-out that day, or when the villa isn’t booked. So sometimes it can take a while before this happens (we have many long-term bookings). Also we do not organize viewings for bookings <14 days. If you look on our website, you can see walk-through videos and a lot of photos. Also on the Airbnb pages you find loads of photos and a lot of good reviews. So what you see is what you get. So hopefully this already convinces you. Otherwise let us know and we will try to organize a viewing.

Extending your stay:
Happy to stay longer? Contact us directly to get a 10% discount of the price you see at Airbnb. Contact Ayu, the villa manager via Whatsapp: +6282266260241. Together with her you can arrange everything. We have more villa’s available, so even if your villa is booked after your stay, we can check other options.

Parking Juli Villa 1 (3BR villa):
Juli Villa 1 has 1 parking spot for a car. The parking can be accessed via this location (at the backside of the villa). Once you are there, you see a wooden gate at the end of the little street, which says ‘Parking Juli Villa 1. The gate can be opened with the doorcode that we provide you. Scooters can also be parked at the car parking area. There is also an extra scooter parking which can be accessed via the white gate at Jl Raya Tiyingtutul No 16, Pererenan. There is space for 3 to 4 scooters there. Very large motorbikes will not fit.

Parking Juli Villa 2 and 3 (2BR villa):
These villa have only scooter parking, which can be accessed via the white gate at Jl Raya Tiyingtutul No 16, Pererenan. The parkings have limited space, enough for about 2 scooters per villa. It is recommended to drive into the parking backwards (just rotate your scooter at the parking area before heading in the little gang downwards). Then you can easily get out. Or park / rotate the scooter in your own garden. Very large motorbikes will not fit. So if you come by car or a very large motorbike, you have to find a place yourself.

If you are looking for something more simple, but yet still very nice, check out our Canggu Tiny House. Located in the heart of Berawa, Canggu. Suitable for 1 or 2 adults. House rules
You have this house all to yourself, but it is located in a quiet residential street and there are other houses around your house. Be quiet in the garden after 22:00. Please park at the parking assigned to your villa. Please no parties, pets, large groups, smoking, drug use, loud music. Turn off the air conditioning when you are not in the house. Do not turn on the air conditioning with the doors open. This way we don’t waste energy unnecessarily. We are in Bali: electricity can go off sometimes, internet can go down sometimes, there may be insects and geckos etc. We clean the house regularly at very high standards, but after all we are in the tropics. Please do not throw toilet paper and hygienic wipes etc. in the toilet but in the trash can near the toilet. This way it doesn’t get clogged.

Cleaning:
The house normally gets cleaned 6 days per week, between 10:00-15:00. Sometimes it is 4 or 5 times per week because of ceremonies etc. The pool and garden maintenance is coming twice per week. Suma and Wayan are responsible for cleaning the house and managing the villa for day to day issues. If you have a preferred time for cleaning, or other preferences let them know directly.

Tipping the staff:
A tip is not mandatory, but always highly appreciated. A tip of 1 USD / 15.000 IDR per person per night is appropriate. But feel free to tip more, less or not.

What is included:
Everything you need for a comfortable stay is included: a fully equipped luxury villa, internet, electricity (fair use), drinking water, cleaning, gardener, pool guy, trash collection. When you arrive we normally put some complimentary welcome drinks in the fridge 🙂

Kids:
Every Juli Villa is suitable for kids and has a baby bed, kids chair, cleaning cushion and some toys and games provided. We can also setup a babybox, let us know in advance. We have some great babysitters on our network. Contact us if you are interested.

Pool safety / fence hire:
Every villa has a pool, so always watch your kids if they cannot swim. If you prefer to have a pool fence, you can contact: http://www.balifencepool.com or https://www.balibubs.com/pool-fence-hire/
There are also other suppliers, just Google.

GETTING AROUND:
– Rent your own motorbike:
this is the most practical, fast and affordable way. Only do it if you are a bit comfortable riding a bike. Always wear a helmet and don’t rush! At walking distance from the house there are several motorbike rentals. Price for Vario / Scoopy: 50.000 – 100.000 IDR per day. Price for NMax / PCX 100.000-200.000 IDR per day.
– Taxi / motorbike taxi:
safe and cheap. Use Grab and Gojek to book this. Bluebird taxis are notorious for asking very high prices. Motorbike is faster in crowded areas (Canggu / Kuta / Denpasar / Seminyak).
– Walking:
for small distances it’s ok, in Canggu area there are now more and more paths for pedestrians. But in general, there is a lack of decent infrastructure to walk relaxed and safe.
– Public transport:
almost not available. Don’t even try…

SPORTS: In the area there are many nice gyms and sport clubs available.

Fitness:
There are many fitness clubs around. Some we can recommend:
Close to the villa’s:
– Obsidian: very nice gym with people who take working out very seriously, but everyone is welcome. Offers a pool and recovery.
– Elite Fit: also close to the villa, this has a bit more chill vibe. Nice facilities and recovery.
– Surya Gym: big gym, more affordable.
– Power + Revive: offer great and energetic classes, a fun community, a nice gym and recovery area with ice bath, sauna and whirlpool. Bookable with classpass.
– Finns recreation club. Nice gym with a lot of equipment, classes, recovery area. Not cheap, but nice.
– Wanderlust fitness village: crossfit heaven.
– Body factory: (in)famous gym with Instagrammable crowd and fitfluencers. Gym is really well equipped and they have a nice recovery area. The atmosphere has to be your thing.
– Revive + Pilates: this is located at two locations. Nice and good pilates classes.
– Finns recreation club: This is a fancy place with an international expat vibe. Everything is pricey, but really well organized. offers tennis, fitness, swimming, restaurants and a water fun park, called Splash.

Football:
Bali Bulldogs offers a nice indoor football playground. Check the schedule where you can join. On saturdays from 16:00-20:00 they have free entrance for kids. At 17:30 they put a movie on for the kids with free popcorn and a drink. There is also a restaurant area where you can have a beer and food (pub-style).

Tennis:
– Liga sports club. This place offers tennis courts, squash courts and padel tennis courts. Book easily via their app.
– Finns recreation club. Offers tennis courts. Often fully booked so be on time. You can book via their whatsapp customer service.
– Island Sports Club Berawa: offers tennis and padel.

Padel:
Padel is the fastest growing sport in Bali and for padel players Bali has become a padel-heaven within the last two years. There are many nice clubs with lessons, tournaments, competitions and events. It’s a fun sport and a great way to meet people. Recommended places:
– Jungle Padel Pererenan: this is very close to the villas at walking distance. They also have other locations in Bali. Nice club.
– Bali Padel Academy: 5 to 10 minutes by scooter, but this place is a world-class padel facility. They have a nice pool, restaurant, awesome trainers and great community. Fun for beginners but also advanced players can find challenging games and tournaments here too. Best padel place in Indonesia.
– Island Sports Club: offers padel at several locations in Bali. The club in Cemagi is very nice and also has a gym.
– Bali Social Club: beautiful club. Offering padel, gym and very nice recovery area. A bit pricy, but very nice.

Banking:
– WISE: Spending in local Indonesian Rupiah without the high transaction fees of normal banks. Easily pay without a card but with your mobile phone. It’s setup quickly and for free. GRAB or GOJEK: This app is great for ordering food, taxis and motorbike taxis. Cheap and reliable. Must have when living in Indonesia! https://gojek.page.link/referral

BREAKFAST / LUNCH / DINNER:
We do not facilitate breakfast / dinner in your villa. But there are many easy options to get good. You can always use Grab or Gojek to get food delivered at the house. Many tasty and affordable options! In the area there are also many great restaurants, even at walking distance.

Pererenan area (the area of Juli Villas)
Pererenan is a new hotspot, full of very nice places and great restaurants.
These places are at WALKING DISTANCE. So there are already loads of options nearby 🙂
– Copenhagen: the famous place with Nordic treats such as cinnamon rolls. They also offer nice coffee and sandwiches.
– Nude Tiying Tutul: nice all day cafe with good food. From healthy options to burgers and pizza.
– Warung Makan Bu Andrea: local, Indonesian food. Very tasty, very affordable
– Motion cafe: famous for its healthy and tasty food in Bali. Can also cater specific fitness diets etc.
– Tony’s new york pizza: great pizza’s, many options.
– Della Terra: ‘New York Italian’ is the concept of this restaurant. Awesome Italian dishes, lively vibes.
– Home Cafe Mengwi: healthy, tasty restaurant. Food is fresh and presented in creative ways.
– Long play: a nice cafe for coffee or lunch / breakfast
– Bake and juice: nice cafe for lunch and breakfast.
– Pinkman pizza: nice pizzas for take away or ordering.

These Pererenan places are also very close to the villa, at 5 minutes by scooter, but a bit (too) far for walking.
– Shelter: can be considered a classic of Bali already. Nice tropical decor, nice people and great food.
– Arte: great Italian restaurant with very nice pizzas and pastas.
– Honey: for lunch and breakfast this is one of the best places in Pererenan. We love their peach-ricotta toast!
– Mostly: a restaurant that has a wide range of culinary choices. Normally that never works well, but in this case it’s actually their concept and it worked out really well. Beautiful design as well.
– Bokashi: one of the prettiest restaurants of Canggu. Great food and wines as well.
– Bar Vera: creative, super flavorful dishes. Fine dining, nice decor.
– Cinta cafe: super tasty breakfast, lunch and dinner.
– Dang! Cookies: this place is not very atmospheric, but many people are hooked on their cookies! Most people order here or do take-away.
– Ettore Gelate: one of the most famous ice cream places in Bali. Their ice creams are just jummy!
– The Hula: one of the best places for lunch and breakfast. They make everything by themselves, including their break and pastries.

Batu Bolong Canggu Area (5-10 minutes by scooter):
– Yuki: Stylish restaurant, close to the beach. Yummy asian fusion food.
– Skool: also very close to the beach, cooks a lot with fire. Very delicious. Book on time since this place is almost always fully booked.
– Mason: a Canggu classic. On the sweet spot between comfort food and fine dining. Nice atmosphere and good food.
– Luma: one of our favorites. Delicious, well cooked and very creative dishes. Nice wines, nice vibe.
– Acme: great place for breakfast and lunch. They make their own bread and pastries. Very flavourful, good coffee.
– Warung Lokal: Indonesian cooking, you can choose at a counter out of a great variety of very tasty dishes, they put it on your plate on the spot.
– Pizza Fabricca: one of the best pizza’s you can have in Canggu. Thin crust. They also have nice beers.
– Numero Quattro: Italian fine dining. Everything is just so flavourfull here. Do not forget their tiramisu, it’s the best.

Berawa Canggu Area (10-15 minutes by scooter)
– MILK – nice cafe for breakfast and lunch. Western style menu.
– Warung Bulek – local indonesian food. You can choose what they will put on your plate. Eat there or take away. Very affordable and nice to try some different Indonesian dishes.
– Ulekan: Indonesian fine dining. Very atmospheric restaurant with high level Indonesian cooking.
– Sate Tegal Sari: local street stall with super tasty sate and nasi campur. At the corner of Jl. Tehal Sari / Jl. Panati Berawa. It’s only open until 17:00. Super cheap, tasty and nice local experience!
– Brunch Club Berawa: great place for lunch and breakfast. Good portions and comfort food. You are overlooking a horse stable from there, so you can see horses while being in the restaurant.
– Milu Bali: nice restaurant overlooking a hidden rice field. Great variety in delicious dishes. Open all day.
– 7 island bakery: great for breakfast and lunch. Nice cakes and good coffee.
– Milk & Madu Berawa: very tasty comfort food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. This restaurant is very popular, and for a reason! On Tuesday and Sunday they have 2 for 1 pizza night. Also nice with kids since there is a little playground and face painting.
– Gaya Gelato: yummy icecreams!
– BELLA Canggu: Italian inspired, fancy restaurant. Fine dining. Not cheap, but delicious.
– Nüde cafe Berawa: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice European style comfort food. Nice coffee.
– Sushime: a sushi restaurant with a ‘sushi-train’ in it. You will see sushi dishes passing by. Pick what you want. On Sunday they have a discounted price (but then it’s very crowded, be on time).

Babakan area (10 minutes by scooter):
– Warung Anita’s: cannot be missed between our favorites. This place is a bit off the beaten track. You feel like you are at an old Italian farm with a touch of Bali. Their Italian food is one of the best in Canggu. Great pizza’s, pasta’s and many other dishes. Friendly staff and friendly prices.
